Our fearless leader is a pro at solo traveling! From Mexico to Morocco, Rebecca is always prepared. She suggests these items to help you feel the same way:

This universal plug adapter includes 4 different adapter plugs that will get you powered up in over 200 different countries. With the ability to plug in up to 6 different items at a time, you don’t have to worry about whether you can blow dry your hair or charge your phone before you start exploring!

The Tenikle Tripod (as seen on Shark Tank) is perfect for the solo traveler or the group. With a super flexible, suction cup lined mount, this tripod is made for adventure. Why not attach it to your mountain cart on the ride down Grindelwald’s mountainous paths, or suction your phone to your handlebars while you bike around London? The possibilities really are endless.

Our Social Media manager, Tevin, has his finger on the pulse of exactly what’s hot right now. The charging mat is both useful and chic, and if that’s too hot, the fan will help cool you off ;)

This foldable charging mat can charge your phone, your smart watch, and your AirPods at the same time. Those of you with divided households will be happy to hear it is capable of charging both iPhones and Androids. It is designed more towards Apple users, though, with mounts to prop your phone up while charging. On a side note, it is also very aesthetically pleasing, which we all know is very important when packing for vacation.

A super compact portable fan is the perfect “techy” item to bring with you  on your next tropical vacation. This one is small enough to fit in your pocket and has USB charging capabilities, so you can just throw it on your fancy new adapter plug at the end of the day.

As someone who works in tech support during the day, I often find myself avoiding it outside of work. I prefer a minimalist approach when packing and try to avoid anything not absolutely necessary. That’s why it’s so important to make my phone work for me when I travel. There are so many useful apps and features on your smartphone that will make travel smoother. Here are a few of my favorites:

While not a tech item, I highly recommend using Google Maps as a “techy” resource. You can go to mymaps.google.com and create a custom map with color coded landmarks. I do this every time we plan a new trip, including things like our hotel, the airport or car rental place, and any excursions we have booked. I also include restaurants we want to try, interesting photo opportunities, and hidden gems that didn’t make it on the itinerary, just in case we decide to be spontaneous.

Google Translate is also great for communication when you’re not fluent in the language where you’re travelling. Take the time before your trip to make sure the app is on your phone. You can even go an extra step and download certain languages in case you don’t have service (but don't forget to download English too, or it won't work)!

What about you, Smiley Travelers? What’s your can’t-live-without tech items when you travel?

Until next month, Smiley Travelers,

Keep exploring,
